RIP Meatpacking District
If anyone would know what being played out feels like, it's Jay McInerney. He says that NYC's nightlife oasis is so ovah.
I, personally, love what the Meatpacking District has become. Given its explosion in popularity as the home for seemingly every new bar, club and restaurant in New York, the area has been transformed into a veritable strip of fly paper, attracting huge percentages of the city's most annoying (think Eurotrash and lots of dudes in striped, untucked, button-down shirts) away from the places where I like to hang my hat. They flock like terrorists to an insurgency and I can not express how much I hope Mr. McInerney is wrong on this one.
