The Boys in Blue Just Wanna Be Down
Well, at least some of them do. According to the NY Post's Page Six, the NYPD's 13th precinct has planned a Christmas bash for tonight at Jay-Z's ultra-hot 40/40 Club. But it turns out a bunch of the officers are none too happy due to Jay-Z's criminal past and his calling New York's finest out for racial profiling.
"It's caused outrage, divisiveness and tremendous bitterness," our insider says. "Some officers are very upset. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was arrested on gun charges [in 2001], and he trashed the guys who did it as racist. And we've arrested bouncers at 40/40 in the past. It's just wrong to hold it there."The boycotting coppers are claiming things "would be the same with a place run by the Mafia." Sure they would (just check out this article on disgraced former NYPD commissioner Bernard Kerik.)
PS: No word on whether or not the DJ plans on breaking out the tune that put Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and Eazy E. on the map. If he does, we'll be sure to post to his obituary.
