AofG Book Club
Interesting. Publisher's Weekly names the brilliant "America (the Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction" their book of the year.
Yesterday, the New York Times publishes their 100 Notable Books of the Year and "America" is nowhere to be found. Even though it currently resides at the top of the Times' Hardcover Nonfiction best seller list. Even though it's held that position for all 10 weeks that it has been in print.
Books that made the cut? Bill Clinton's absolute snoozer, "My Life" (I'm a Clinton fan and I couldn't make it 60 pages). A biography of Natalie Wood. Tom Wolfe's "I Am Charlotte Simmons", in which a geriatric spins yarns of college debauchery.
But not one of this year's publishing phenomena.
