Interesting Statistic
This little factoid has been bandied about for the last couple of days, but you know what? I'm going to use Rush Limbaugh's Nuremberg-esque rant on his show yesterday to cite it:
This was a huge, huge sweep. This is, for George Bush: the first president with 51% of the vote since his father in 1988. Bill Clinton never got 50% of the vote. Bush is the first to do so in 12 years. The most votes ever for a president, including Ronald Reagan
With 55,703,920 votes thus far, John Kerry also received the most votes ever for a president, including Ronald Reagan.

In other words, anyone who says the direction of the country has shifted, who say that America is not divided, who say that George W. Bush does not need to reach out to us, but we need to reach out to him, anyone who says this is kidding themselves. Gross is on to something - if you feel saddened or disappointed with Tuesday's result, buck up and behave as a member of an opposition party would.
